When does DEFRA Digital Waste Tracking become mandatory?
Waste receivers must record and submit movements digitally from October 2026 (England, Wales and Northern Ireland; January 2027 in Scotland). Carriers, brokers and dealers follow in October 2027.
Do you connect to the official DEFRA API?
Yes. Nexus Waste submits directly to the DEFRA Digital Waste Tracking “Receipt of Waste” API and has passed live connectivity testing against the service.
What happens if I miss the two-working-day deadline?
The platform tracks every receipt against the SLA and reminds you before it lapses, so you stay clear of the Fixed and Variable Monetary Penalties that apply to late or missing records.
Is my data kept in the UK?
Yes. The platform runs on Google Cloud in the London (europe-west2) region, with an append-only audit trail and retention enforced by waste type.
How is pricing structured?
By location. Each plan includes a number of sites, and you add more sites for a small monthly fee. There is no charge per waste movement, so busy receivers are never penalised.
